ROSEMEAD SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOLS

News & Announcements

The image is a communique from the Rosemead School District superintendent, featuring the district's logo and icons representing various aspects of the school community. The text discusses a "Season of Renewal and Optimism" and encourages the school community to reflect on the importance of kindness, compassion, and gratitude.

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

As we approach the spring season and the week of Easter, I am reminded of the powerful themes this time of year represents across the many traditions and cultures that make up our school district. For some, this is a time of spiritual reflection; for others, it is a celebration of renewal, hope, and new beginnings. Regardless of how this time of year is observed, the season offers a shared opportunity to pause, appreciate growth, and embrace the promise of what lies ahead.

As a community, this is also a time to reflect on the importance of kindness, compassion, and gratitude. In a world that is currently hard to make sense of sometimes, small acts like supporting a neighbor, encouraging a classmate, or expressing appreciation for the smallest of things, especially to those we do not know, help create the positive environment we strive to foster across the Rosemead School District and in our community.

This time of year brings with it a sense of renewal, energy, and possibility. Across our schools, we see our students continuing to grow, not only in their academic learning but also in their confidence, creativity, and connections with one another. When we return from the spring recess, we will begin state testing, and just as nature around us begins to flourish this time of year, I strongly believe our students will, too, as they build confidence, deepen their learning, and demonstrate what they have learned this year.

Navigating AI Together: A Shared Responsibility

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

Last week, a team of teachers and administrators attended the Computer-Using Educators (CUE) conference, one of the largest educational technology events focused on innovative teaching and learning methods. A signifi cant part of the conference was dedicated to sessions on Artifi cial Intelligence (AI) and its applications in education. As I was speaking to a couple of the attendees, listening to the possibilities that AI brings to the education of our children, I couldn’t help but think about the larger conversation about how artifi cial intelligence and emerging technologies are shaping the future of education, and what that means for our students and parents today.

My initial thoughts veered to concern. AI tools can blur the line between authentic student work and computer-generated responses, making it more challenging to accurately assess understanding, critical thinking, and effort. There is also a risk that overreliance on AI could diminish essential skills such as writing, problem-solving, and perseverance. Additionally, questions about data privacy, equitable access, and the ethical use of technology require careful attention. For educators, this moment calls for vigilance, adaptation, and leadership to ensure that AI serves as a support to learning—rather than a substitute for it.

Superintendent D'Agostino's Weekly Communique - Issue 60 - Healthy Eating Habits Are An Important Life Lesson

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

National Nutrition Month is underway, and I thought I would take a moment to highlight how important it is for the district to partner with parents to ensure that students are always offered healthy eating options both at school and at home.

With Childhood obesity affecting nearly 1 in 5 U.S. children, it's important that we work together to ensure our students avoid the excessive consumption of high-calorie, processed foods and lack of physical activity. Childhood obesity can often be compounded by genetics, high stress, and poor sleep. It brings long-term health risks such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and psychological issues like depression, often tracking into adulthood.

During National Nutrition Month, I would encourage you to learn how to make informed food choices and develop healthy eating and physical activity habits for you and your family. I would also encourage you to discover how food and beverage choices can help power your child’s day, and build healthy habits into your day to help you feel great now and in the future. It’s important that you stay healthy for you and those you love!

Superintendent D'Agostino's Weekly Communique - Issue 59 - Teachers and District Leaders Working Together

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

Last week, I had the opportunity to have lunch with our district’s teachers’ union president and her vice president. They had spent the day at some of our school sites, talking with their members about issues affecting the important work teachers do every day. I welcome this collaboration.

In strong school systems, the most meaningful progress happens when site and district leadership work in genuine partnership with teachers. Each group brings a unique and essential perspective to the work of educating children. Teachers understand the daily realities of the classroom and the individual needs of students, while school and district leaders bear responsibility for ensuring that systems, resources, and long-term planning support success for every school and every child.
